But what are the dreams of Tigersincorbett ? The poorest families were always the worst hit Clean water is not a big ask
For most people seeing a tiger in the wild is just a dream.
Many set about finding a way to make their dreams come true and they succeed.
Many dont get a choice in whether they can go in search of dreams or not as some are not so lucky as others. And in the not too distant future the chances of a glimpse of the most beautiful creature that ever walked this earth may itself be no more than a dream
and that is a nightmare of a thought.
When Tigersincorbett started in 2006 there were approximately 90 tigers resident there
Today that number is somewhere between 200 - 210 striped cats and they are thriving
Tigersincorbett are not only helping with fulfilling the dreams of people like you to see tigers, they are also helping with educating the local community as to the value of the wildlife in Corbett. At the moment there are 10 orphaned children being paid through school, without the help offered by us there would be little hope for their future and there are now water purification systems in place in schools so that the children in the local schools can have clean healthy drinking water through the day
In 2009 60 children in the school suffered from Jaundice,
and Hepatitis as a result of contaminated water at the school
Since 2010 this number is a big fat 0
Before 2010 it was often a higher number than 60 The results were all heartbreaking
distressing & very often devastating
Rich or Poor, Children are worth the investment !Those children lucky enough to go to the schools are there to learn
They want to learn but a few have very little/no choice These are some of the people who have little/no choice in fulfilling their dreams
Despite the massive achievment of the water purifiers and
coolers there are still many more essential things needed
The school has No desks, No seats, No BlackboardThe science room has a poster of a human skeleton on the wall. . Thats All !
Also we would like to install some ceiling fans
It gets very hot in those clasrooms during the day sometimes over 45 c +
Your cash is put to good use in supplying a few of these basics
Although they may have improved a little
Things are still bad
there is still much much more needed to be improved
In addition to helping the children go to school and receive an education
we go into schools and give talks and also projector shows about the value
of the wildlife in the local area this also happens in clubs and other social meeting places aswell in the hope of making more folks understand matters.
It does not end there !!
Our aim is to put more of your money into the local community
by offering visitors exceptional value for money
and in doing so, the locals will make more from the tourists who visit,
and so appreciate more the true value of the wildlife.
Tigers, leopards, snakes, elephants,
all of nature, is losing out to the humans
for all the wrong reasons
Educating the humans in all things nature will
help both the humans and the wildlife equally
Ultimately the better off the wildlife is
How do we intend to achieve our aim ?
Travel agents and tour operators are not caring so much for this local community,
also they live far away in the big cities. People from this community live alongside the
wild animals that exist here, many lose their lives to those same wild creatures.
When you book through a travel agent or operator,
they add their costs, profit margins etc...
You pay a 50% deposit, and then you pay the balance in full
at least a minimum of 8 weeks in advance of travelling.
This money, minus the agents cut, does not reach the businesses
out here in Corbett until some 6 - 9 months after you have visited.
We have been to many of the local businesses and have negotiated some
very good prices that are just not available elsewhere, even locally.
In return for these very special exclusive rates
We offer payment in advance, which the local businesses much
prefer as you can imagine. Everyone locally benefits from this
We then pass on these prices to you
with a small amount added for our various causes
The result is this, the local community are much better off
&
The children in Corbett are being educated by Tigers
Our efforts are definitly making a big difference
Not for a second would anyone at Tigersincorbett suggest that we were solely to thank for the increased numbers of Tigers in Corbett, but after nearly 40 years of project tiger failing to make any progress . . .
It is maybe more than just a coincidence !
